Hiddenstitch in Bridges

If you haven't flipped through this weeks copy of Bridges magazine check out this article on the lovely and talented Ricki Skoretz of Hiddenstitch:

Ricki reclaims old furniture, stripping pieces down to their bones and refinishing them. Her craftsmanship is amazing and I love her choices of fabrics. The piece in the photo above was one of my favorites. It swivelled and rocked! Seriously, how much better does it get than that. I'm still kicking myself for missing out on that one.

See more of her work at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Hiddenstitch/232866300136297

This lovely photo of Ricki at the Flock and Gather Winter Wonders Market this past winter was taken by Erin Weiss.

Handmade Events & Happenings

With the New Year under way and a week under our belts we are busy marking calendars, making to do lists, sketching, designing, and generally just trying to be proactive with our indie craft endeavours for 2013.

As we began to dream, mark, and write we realized what better way to contribute to this vibrant indie craft scene than to hear from you! If you have an upcoming event, application deadline, or any other fun handmade/DIY related info please drop us a line @ waldensweet@shaw.ca

We would be happy to post your event, sale, or indie craft news on the blog.
Thanks in advance for contributing and helping to grow this amazing handmade community.

Handmade Favorites 2012

We saw a lot of amazing handmade work this past year. So what better way to start 2013 than to look back at some of our favorite handmade stuff from 2012.

Uncle Mike's All Natural Products
Saskatchewan winters are cold and dry, and absolutely murder on your hands. Mike's Healing Salve is the best product I have come across for repairing your damaged hands. His soap is awesome too!

Andronyk Jewelry
We had the pleasure of meeting Jeanie this past December. Amazing person and her work is beautiful and subtle.

Flight Path Designs
There isn't always a lot of stuff at craft shows for guys. So it was a wonderful when we attended Make It in Edmonton to see these great belt buckles. Very sweet!

If you're in Saskatchewan this show is worth the drive to Edmonton. They put on a great show with fantastic vendors and excellent work.
